FWIW, you don't have to shutdown PS to transfer the file back to LR; a File>Close will do it. That way, if you plan to work on other images in PS it doesn't have to initiate each time.

I don't understand? You could literally always open as many files as you wanted from Lightroom to Photoshop? I have done it with dozens of files at a time. Sometimes a hundred plus. What am I missing?

That’s pretty good to have that feature. I only use the cloud version of Lightroom for my iPhone pictures. There is still a ways to go to have the same feature set as classic.

I have Beta installed but as long as I have my regular version of photoshop open at the time I transfer my images they always open in the regular version of photoshop.

You mentioned Smart Objects and I have used them in tutorials but I don't understand why--given the benefits--you wouldn't always want something to be a Smart Object?

What I want in Lightroom is avoid Photoshop… cloning feature that allows cloning from a different photo… if Lightroom could do that I could avoid using Photoshop (and create a whole new image file) just to cut & paste a couple of opened eyes over closed ones.

Not sure what you’re talking about. I have sent multiple images over to photoshop for years. Not really following you.
