I saw your video 2 months ago and I started doing what you're doing. With your idea, I narrowed down my most used tools as pliers and a flathead too! I also use a pen, flashlight, scissors and a knife. So I took it a step further and got rid of all the fluff in my edc and replaced it with a victorinox compact (pen, knife, scissors, flathead) and bought a no name brand pliers multitool that also has a flashlight and stuck to that. I no longer carry a maxpedition pouch because I have these 2 tools alone and it's changed my lifestyle since. I can wear shorts freely! This is coming from a guy who owns a benchmade, spyderco, Leatherman, olight, klein, Milwaukee etc etc. A victorinox compact and a no name multitool is literally all I needed for urban edc.

In my door side pouch, I keep a pair of pliers and a screwdriver.

Screwdrivers are very personal I feel so can’t say much in that regard. I like my Kleins but have recently been using Wera and PB Swiss for drivers. The old trusty pliers. Nothing wrong with them and still can be useful for sure. I use the Knipex twin grips for general plier sort of use with the added functionality of gripping well from the front. All that being said I really recommend using anything besides pliers or channel locks for turning nuts and bolts. Absolutely will strip those out. I don’t mind using them to hold on to things though that I might be tightening a nut on. Still may cause some damage even doing that but have to do what you have to do sometimes and is still drastically less than you’d have with using it to turn nuts/bolts.

Anyways your toolset is determined by what you do and those very well may be the most useful and versatile for your needs. Thanks for sharing and have a good one!
