shortest video ever! replacing the m.2 wifi is no big deal on the Lenovo yoga with 8th gen i7 CPU. even a novice can do this pretty easily.

note also a 2x2 connection could theoretically support 867mbps max but real world 20mhz channels etc etc is 433mbit...

Got my Dad the Yoga last year and it's always been a little iffy on the Internet connection. He had to send it in for a hinge-repair and when it came back the Wifi was absolute garbage. This video was a lifesaver. Thank you!😀

I know this is an old video but thank you so much, I just replaced my WIFI card and it solved all the WIFI issues I was having with my Lenovo Y530. I was connected via ethernet most of the time so I never realized it was a problem until recently, after warranty was up. (Warranties are kind of pain in Canada anyway, high shipping costs coupled with long turn around times).

The White antenna wire goes on the left and the black antenna wire goes on the right. When you put the antenna wires on you put them in the wrong sides.(The antenna wire colors will match the colors on the wifi card picture.)

Easy upgrade... unless you run into a laptop with a white list in the BIOS like the last Lenovo I tried to upgrade :( the list of companies I'll buy laptops from is shrinking all the time... :(

you placed the cables on the wrong ports.. White arrow to white, black arrow to Black... how much problem that would cause I have no idea...

Thank you, I was struggling with frequent wifi drops, I think I tried all suggested software fixes, only solution was to change the network card. Now the laptop is perfect. Shame on Lenovo.

The 2x2 8265NGW will technically do 866Mbps link speed (as opposed to the 433Mbps you said) but only with 80Mhz channel width. 40Mhz and you'll get 400Mbps link speed.
Also to the people looking to buy an m.2 WiFi card, if you want Bluetooth 5.0 there's the 9260NGW from Intel which isn't that much more expensive than the 8265NGW.

Thank you for the helpful video, I replaced mine with the Intel 9260 9260NGW and speed test hit ~430 Mbps which was nearly 200 Mbps more than what I was getting. Pro tip: use a piece of masking tape to prevent screws from bouncing around.

Does card whitlisting still a thing? At first I discovered that my new wifi module is blocked by BIOS, for a second I wished a meteor would struck Lenovo's MOBO devel floor. Like they protect me by allowing only few modules out of stock everywhere but them. Sad I like the lenovo chicklet keyboards and don't want to migrate.

Wendell, you mentioned you were going to return the 920, despite fixing the WiFi problem. Why return it if it now works and you liked the overall machine and functionality? Thanks for the great video, very helpful!

Did you upgrade your Yoga from Level 1 to Level 2?

I have a Lenovo Yoga 710-15IKB that I got in 2016 and I never had any issues with the WiFi. I wonder if they cheaped out compared to the one I have.

Any recommendation for an Intel card now?

My Yoga 6 drops frequently. Actually, the biggest issue seems to be that the card is very slow to (re-)establish a connection. When I wake any of my other laptops on from sleeping, they are immediately connected. Conversely, I have to sit and wait for the Yoga to connect. It's very obvious when GMail is telling you that it cannot connect, so you look down and see the globe icon instead of the wifi connected one. Almost makes me wonder if breaks in connection are common with any card, but that Intel cards re-establish so quickly that it isn't noticeable. Certainly, being slow makes the issue worse.

Also, interestingly, no matter what ethernet-to-USB-C adapter I use, it will drop connection on that, too. Right in the middle of Zoom calls, drop. I have to use my old HP Revolve 810 G3 for Zoom. Annoying. I like the design of the Yogas, but they are built lightly (heavy keyboard flex) and have issues like this. Wish I'd gone another way.

Hi can you help, I have Lenovo thinkpad 1st gen yoga. The wifi keeps disconnecting and the seller is sending me a new wifi 8260 adapter. Replacing it I heard Lenovo put a whitelist. How can I find out what adapter wifi is compatible?

Lenovo & their ilk spent more on stickers that claim, *"WARNING: WARRANTY VOID IF REMOVED."*

I installed Intel Wireless-Ac 9260 on my Lenovo Yoga 730 15LKB. The wifi finally works great, but my bluetooth isn't working anymore. I have reinstalled all drivers I can (didn't remove any older ones) on Windows 11. Any clues?

I think I might have to do this to my Ideapad-330s because the Qualcomm Atheros card that comes with it has some power issues. The package won't enter C-states deeper than C3 with it enabled. The package goes down to C8 once I disable the wifi card in windows and my power consumption drops by roughly 0.6 Watts.

First thing I did when i got the ASUS AC-1900 was upgrade my Yoga 2 Pro's wifi to the Intel AC 7260, MUCH better. Wireless AC definitely reduces latency. Damn.. that was like 4 years ago lol.
