Another Essential user here. I've been using it since mid November and it's not nearly as bad as Eber makes it out to be. I downloaded the Google Camera port immediately which was really easy and pictures look so much better. I also am on the Oreo beta, which was out at the time of this video being filmed, and addresses many of the biggest problems of this phone, so I'm not sure why he stuck with Nougat. The titanium is a life saver for when you drop it, my phone still looks brand new. I've also had multiple days where I topped 6 hours of screen on time, and there are tons of users who also get that regularly so I don't know what he was talking about with the battery life. I really don't understand why a reviewer would use this phone and hate it so much even though the community that has it loves it.

Edit: After reading comments for a few minutes, I think there needs to be a followup video because there are so many people disagreeing with your conclusions on the phone. There are a lot of easy ways to make this a fantastic phone and the world doesn't need reviewers who don't show what the phone is actually capable of being a this price point. The OnePlus 5T is an iPhone clone with flagship specs at $500, it doesn't push the envelope at all and that is shameful for an android phone company. Make a followup video and address what the Essential community is saying about this amazing phone. We're not making excuses for it, we all legitimately think this is a great device and has deserves better.

Just by looking at the thumbnail, I can tell who made the videos just by looking at how the lighting is set up.

I don’t know why this phone receives so many negative reviews before. I own this phone for a month and I absolutely love it.
Pro: Affordable price with $450 you can the top flagship phone on the market, beautiful design especially the back, Pure Android mean no bloatware or flatware, 120 Gb memory.
Corn: The Camera isn’t good as a top smartphone on the market but it will easy fix when they update the camera software, and this phone is not the waterproof phone.
P/S one of my friend accidentally break the front of the phone. He called customer service for repair. The customer service asking the reason and sent him a new phone without charged

the google camera port to the Essential Phone showed that the PH1 is by no means underpowered on the hardware end, its just the software bottlenecking the experience. It was shooting quality photos, lag free, up there with the rest of them

I've had it since late October (after the price drop) and I love it. The only small downside was the back being very slippery which could have led to dropping it. All I had to do to fix this was buy a Dbrand skin for the back (which looks better imo) and now it is super comfortable to hold and won't slip. The build quality on this phone is amazing as well. The camera is just OK, which is fine for me since I don't take photos and it is probably good enough for most people.

Got it 4 days ago and I love it especially in white! You don't even see fingerprints with the white model!

I decided to go with the Essential because it was different and new. I expected growing pains since it is literally a brand new device in every sense of the word. I've had the phone since several weeks after launch and have not regretted my decision. Most people are amazed by the build quality and design when I show it to them. Curiously, I do not notice the screen jitter and lag that the video talks about nor the short battery life. It feels very smooth and fluid to me and I usually get about 14-15 hours on a charge with mixed usage. Any way, I think it is an excellent device and if you want to be different, go for it.

I've had this phone for a little over a month, I'm coming from an iPhone 7 plus. I have a dbrand skin and no case and so far no scratches. The display is sharp, the colors are vibrant in my view, and the battery will last all day for me. The phone has a compact size and the all display experience is beyond future proof for me. The only thing I would like is for YouTube and video play back could strech using the entire display and not putting the black bar. Other than that, I feel that people criticize this phone so much and it's truely not as bad reviewers make it seem. It's definitely worth the $499.00 price tag compared to my 7 plus that was a bit more. If your on the fence like I was, buy it and if you don't like it return the phone within the 30 day mark. I past my 30 day mark and I don't regret it.

I've been an essential phone user for a few months now and I'm not sure what you're talking about with the screen jitter. I tried scrolling in instagram as you did and I'm just not sure what you're getting at. I came from a well used iphone 6 so maybe I just don't have the same perspective of someone who reviews flagship phones as they release. That's my theory as to why I can't see the screen jitter issue.

I have one and I love the phone. Right now you can pick one up for like $450 on Amazon and sometimes you can even get it lower than that.. Just make sure to download the pixel camera app and it works like a charm. I also downloaded android Oreo and yesterday with normal usage I got only to 72% by the time I got home from work. It could probably last 2 days especially with the new 8.0 beta update. Great video laying out the features though!

Android Pie v9.0 official update just dropped to the Essential PH1 yesterday and it's running beautifully smooth without any issues. This reviewer was biased then about this phone and I want all of you to know this device is a winner. If you want a better camera app that takes Pixel 2 quality photos then search Arnova's v8.1 Google Camera Port apk.

Picked up a used one (in great condition) for cheap this week. Working beautifully with Rogers in Toronto. Love the pure Android experience. Updated to official Android 9 Pie and just got the Nov 5, 2018 security patch. Battery life is fantastic and I haven't noticed any jitters when scrolling through various app.

Idk why all YouTubers follow one set trend of praising or bashing a phone. The only problem in this phone is the stabilization in video and an uninspiring still camera. With a quick fix even that could be improved.
