Agile Story Points - Relative Estimation Technique

Hi, thanks for the good explanatory video. What maybe confuses is that in the end after the sprint, there could be a correlation of story points and time, for instance, if the team sets many cases to the sprint which are large let’s say 8 story points and are not able to finish them in 2 weeks sprint, then it means that those 8 points can not be finished in 2 weeks and the team when having 8 points stories should be splitting the item. So then people correlates the story points on an item in the end with some time reference which is the sprint length, in this case 2 weeks?
