I had lasik yesterday & I promise you there is no way something like this would happen. There’s also a whole team in the surgery room with you. And the laser follows the movement of your eye. The doctor wouldn’t just suddenly leave the room.

I'm a laser enthusiast and I find this scene hilarious because they got absolutely EVERYTHING wrong, from the declared power of the laser (too weak), to its effects (too strong) to its type (LASIK machines use ultraviolet lasers, not red, and they are pulsed, not continuous wave) to its sound (real lasers don't make any sound, let alone a "zap" sound).

I'm sorry. Am I supposed to laugh here? A real eye doctor wouldn't leave the patient with the eye clamp alone for an indeterminate amount of time. There's Death trying to kill you and then there's just plain patient negligence. If anyone deserves to die, it should be this doctor.

The amount of people who think lasik is actually like this is just sad tbh. If you're thinking about getting lasik and you're here because it freaks you out, click off this video and watch an actual lasik procedure video. It's literally painless and the doctor sure as hell doesn't leave the room. There were like 8 people in the room when I got it. I strongly recommend the surgery and kinda resent this movie for scaring so many people away from a life changing procedure.
