Imagine how terrified you must be knowing the story's of the 'almighty' death star, and then seeing it in the sky

Imagine sitting in a toilet in alderaan, having trouble pushing out whatever you ate last night, and once you released it, the planet just explodes.

For the level of detail that you put into your environment, you've moved the camera too fast to get a good look at it. The explosion happens instantaneously which, yeah, that was how it was in the movie, but check out Adywan's ANH edit for a different take on this scene, I think yours is just a little too fast in all aspects.

Let's try making tragic short sentences that happen right before the destruction, i'll start:

"Will you marry me?"
"Oh darling, I----"

Problem is, considering the size of the Death Star, and it's distance from Alderaan at the time of firing the weapon, it would barely be visible from the surface, if at all. The Death Star isn't all that big compared to even something like say, Ceres. And it's in an orbit that looks to be about 100, 000km or so. It would be a speck, if you could see it at all in the daylight.

The people of Alderaan literally didn't see it coming.

I think it’d be a bit further away. This close Death Star would catastrophically influence planet’s gravity.

Only thing I'd change is the dark side of the death star should be the color of the sky. Think of a crescent moon, the unlit side doesn't appear black, it just fades into the sky color. Awesome job though, looks amazing

Poor Alderaan. Looking so great just to be blown away by that "moon"

this just makes me more sympathetic to the rebel cause, imagine your last thought being another moon showing up in the sky, part of it going green and then your last thought it is "what the fuck is that"
