00:00 Well-dressed Villains Introduction

Watching a dramatic plot unfold while enjoying the talents of the costume designers is a great way for us to spend a few hours. One consistent component of these tales is an antagonist, or “villain” for our heroes to go up against we're sure you’ve noticed it too, but a lot of these characters are rather well dressed!

01:12 The Joker (1989 - Jack Nicholson)
03:32 Hannibal Lecter (NBC - Mads Mikkelsen)
06:36 Count Dracula (Bela Lugosi)
09:53 Patrick Bateman (Christian Bale)
12:23 Red Grant (From Russia With Love)

So, these are our list of some of our favorite evil doers and their unique take on clothes and style. Of course, there are many other examples that we could mention, perhaps in a future installment–Batman’s rogue’s gallery alone is filled with stylish villains!

Penguin is by far the best dressed villian of all time. Top hats, tailored 3 peice suits, minocular etc. How he never made the list is crazy. Black mask, two face, riddler, kingpin, scar face all deserved honourable mentions.

Immediately recognise a fine Hannibal Lecter costume on Preston, it actually suits him rather well! I must admit, I've always had a bit of a fascination with his bold Prince of Wales suits and paisley ties :)

This Lecter guy seems legit. I bet he would make a great doctor.

Inconceivable as it may seem Bela Lugosi was my babysitter. I was born in LA and he was our next door neighbor. Imagine how strange the conversation went when while watching Abbott & Costello meet Frankenstein, my Dad says “Hey there’s your Babysitter!”

Dracula will always be a classic! I also agree with Joker. What about The Riddler? He's seen briefly at the end of the video but the question marks and Green suits are definitely stylish. He even wore purple trousers in some variations which is pretty bold. Hope you all enjoy your weekend.

@12:52 it is interesting that the actor who played Red Grant, Robert Shaw, went on to play Captain Quint, who was obsessed with killing the Shark in Jaws.

In Batman 1989 you can also see the joker in some form of distorted morning dress, in the scene with the pen. He's wearing a velvet tailcoat with silk faced lapels, black and white checked trousers, a white waistcoat, a huge buttonhole and a black top hat.

This video's script makes me feel like I am drowning in puns, and I LOVE IT

I think it was already mentioned in some previous GG video that Auric Goldfinger was very well-dressed. Also, the Penguin is wearing white tie a lot.

Man, I LOVED that red suit with the yellow vest that Joaquin Phoenix's Joker wore in the 2019 movie. It compliments the green hair so well and makes it look somehow more natural of a hair color to me.

Speaking of evening cloaks -- lest we forget Darth Vader's flowing robes. They ooze confidence, power, and evil.

Bella Lugosi was buried in his vampire costume. Wonderful

God, I love this dandy-fancyman channel. I'm off to Thailand, and will be dressing as such. Kisses x

I would have loved to see Robert Shaw as Doyle Lonnegan from “the Sting”

Loved it Preston, and you look fantastic!
Are the wider, more bold ties of the 70's coming back into vogue?
Thanks again!

Yaphet Koto's villain in Live and Let die rocked a few looks given he had a secret identity.

I must say that Preston’s red paisley tie, with that large knot went with the rest of his outfit extremely well. Bravo! Bella Lugosi as a well dressed villain was a great choice, though I am surprised that you didn’t reach into the gangster films of the 1930s for one of your choices.

Mr. Wilford played by Sean Bean in the Snowpiercer show always wears nice suits and cold weather ensembles.
