Dude, if I was the one that sent that bottle and came back as a ghost so excited to see when someone would open my bottle, I'd be like I worked hard on that just open If I send a bottle out to sea I'd so want some one to open my bottle no matter how old it is. Like ain't that the point!?

Take a little sandblaster to the metal clasps holding the cork in. I bet it will free right up without damaging the glass and the bottle will open with no problems.
