This QUICK TIP After Effects Tutorial demonstrates a very simple way to link wheel rotation to a chassis, so the wheels automatically spin as the vehicle moves.

Many thanks for this great tutorial! I experimented a few things to find the right speed for the wheel rotation and (now it seems quite obvious) dividing the value of the X position by PI gives great results (As i said, obvious). Maybe it can be useful to some of the people watching this. Thanks again for all your quick tips!

I found that you skipped one very small but important step. Before parenting the layers and pickwhipping the rotation expressions to the car body, be sure that your anchor points are set at the center of your wheels. They often aren't by default and that can cause the wheels to orbit the car instead of rotating in place.
