the dragon was the longest fight of my playthrough, first time, tactician, and trying to play as though if it was honor mode... i think i spend 3 hours puzzling out this fight, i had party members downed and killed many times over, resurrected, i never figured out the crystal trick, i ended up finding a safe spot out of the entry-way, it was down to 1 character so many times in this fight, and just barely scraping enough strategy to get another character back online, over and over and over... i ended up winning thanks to help from a protection from evil spell that i had kicking around, and scraping almost every last inch of my inventory for anything that would help turn by turn only to be near flattened over and over... Karlach, on her last actions, and nearly dead, managed to finally deliver the killing blow... most satisfying win ever.

PRO TIP: Use Shadowheart and cast the spell “Sanctuary” on whoever holds the torch in the room of courage. It’s a guaranteed win

Just did this fight on Tactician, for the phase you can use a scroll of Globe of Invulnerability or the spell if you have it and move all of your characters inside. You wont take any damage from his attack.

During the Dialog with the Dragon. You can switch Characters and loot him. Using the Giant Slayer in the battle.
Also, hitting the crystals gives you "Crystal Skin" which is resistance to all elements.

Two fun facts, (1) you can cross the bridge and safely jump down from the left side to that ledge without the need for feather fall and (2) if you circle around left instead of right and head down to the beach you can bypass the cave by succeeding on a perception check for a rat sized pipe. Use gaseous form and slip into the cave just past the dragon torch hidden wall section and not have to deal with the guard.

I popped "Potion of Speed" on all 4 party members. 3/4 of them had 3 attacks per turn for 3 turns, plus Lae'zel's Action Surge for a super sweet 5 attack turn. Main character is a great weapon wielding paladin (original, I know) with full spell slots. Encounter down within 2 turns.

Wonder how much hidden content has yet to be found? The lighting dmg on the statutes who thinks of that?

I used a globe of invulnerability scroll when attacking the dragon. This completely negated the dragon’s big attack and removes a lot of the elementals’ damage. Made the fight fairly easy if I’m honest

It’s probably easier to interrupt the dragon’s channel than try and mitigate the damage. (Spoilers) Half Illithid can use mind blast to stun it, which is what did the trick for me. Any stun or possibly knocking it prone will probably work.

The helmet is from the first two games, so Larian kept the original design.

Wow this is super clickbaity. This is Wyll’s quest line and there’s no way it’s just 1%

Heres a great trick that I found out worked really great, if you happen to have a bunch of the Smoke powder bombs (3d4+9 force damage) and also you can find a box of Oddfire fireworks in the basement of the toy maker, I put down the fireworks and about 8 of the grenades and as soon as the fight starts taget them with a fire arrow and KABOOM! took over 50% of his health in that one attack.

Enlarged, Hastened oath of vengeance paladin with vow of enmity for advantage. four lvl 3 smites in a single turn. He had 50hp left when he tool fight and that's the only thing he did for the entire fight — fly up and get bonked :D

0:48 Immunity to Stuns and Crits was I think standard on all helmets in BG1&2, nice callback.

You can also access the prison by just intimidating the guard at the door lol.

Just FYI, if you teleport back towards the door far enough, you can actually avoid the blast radius. You can also use a party member that can shapeshift into a displacer beast to displace him away.

for the survival trial, you can use the sanctuary spell and you won't get hit.

Oh, my Lord! That blast wiped all my party but my main, a paladin, when the dragon had 50 health left. However, the divine was on my side, for he came in clutch with two smites, felling the beast!

This thing on a barbarian is op as hell. Mine with strg20 (i missed the +2 potion sadly) and with the broken hellarmor gloves deals 26-41 damage evry attack, a barbarian that attacks 3-4 times every turn, in its normal state, no rage no giant form. Its insane good

Did this at a full party of characters at level 12. Damage solves in D&D 5e. Popped a potion of Cloud Giant Strength, and then a speed potion on my Scoradin and literally almost 1 turned this dragon. Thanks for the guide though, went and got my loot super easy!
