There wasn’t much on how to actually plan a city, so here’s my way:
1. Decide how big your project will be (or at least estimate), keeping in mind to not make it too big.
2. Choose a theme (modern, medieval, futuristic, etc.)
3. Think of a good location (do you need a river, mountains, etc.), keeping in mind the size of the project.
4. Either find a seed or make your own terrain using software, keeping size in mind.
5. Draw a rough plan of where everything will be (skyscrapers, factories, highways, etc.)
6. Bit by bit, build your city, keeping size in mind.

I'm stunned by how Gallitzin was designed. All the other cities are awesome, but they're just not the same. My other favorite is Delfino :)
