The corruption of evidence based medicine

Professor Clancy worked with Professor David Sackett, the founder of the modern evidence based medicine movement, for over 4 years. Here we discuss the nature and importance of EBM and how this has been corrupted to the detrement of patient care.

My nurse practitioner saved my life. I was having problems with sleep and energy. My doctor wanted to just give me sleeping pills at night, and a stimulant during the day. Quick in and out. The next visit, my nurse practitioner ordered some tests that diagnosed cancer. From there she got me to the correct specialists. The doctor didn’t spend any time asking questions. Needless to say, I have a different doctor now!

During the pandemic doctors were told what to do for their patients. They had no control on practicing medicine with their own knowledge, they were all manipulated. It’s actually scary when you really think about it, perhaps we could of saved many lives if it wasn’t this way 😢

THANK YOU FOR THIS DISCUSSION
Before Covid I was a hair away from going $60k+ in debt to go to nursing school. I wanted experience as a nurse before pursuing a D.O. or N.D.
I did all the research, I visited schools, took prerequisite tests, bought books, etc. I followed nurses, doctors, physician assistants, etc on YT to see what their experiences were and their day to day jobs after school.

I was on the fence at the end because the conclusion I came to was everyone goes in with a heart of gold to treat patients, then is stuck with loans and a job they can’t change because over time autonomy has been completely stripped from these highly educated positions. Add toxic working conditions, decreasing pay, horrendous hours, etc. I knew it was a career you had to do for love and not the money. I didn’t know in detail how abused our healthcare workers are and how they have to treat patients with their hands tied and mouths closed. It’s all about money and corruption just like any other industry.

Then Covid hit and nurses were using pads and diapers for masks and the censorship and litigation has only gotten worse. Then many of them lost their jobs for refusing to take a vaccination without being able to see the science first.

I dodged a bullet. I would have had to repay a loan for getting kicked out of nursing school for refusing to take the “vaccine”. (The definition of which has been changed)

May God help healthcare staff and their patients to navigate this sick-inducing hellscape.

I noticed a huge difference between doctors in the UK (and also Belgium) and in the US back in the 80's. In the UK/B, your GP would ask you all sorts of questions and the situation was that the patient was not feeling well and the doctor was trying, by talking with the patient (and looking at the vitals), to ascertain what the cause of the problem was. In the US, I got the impression that doctors simply looked for the appropriate pill for whatever the ailment was. UK doctor conversation: as long as it took. US doctor converstation: 10 to 15mns, tops. The extreme of US doctor experience I had was when I went in with a pain in my shoulder and being immediately prescribed prozac. I pointed out, again, that I had a pain in my shoulder and his response was, "well, this'll help". My shoulder problem was resolved years later by a doctor in Belgium...

I descend from an Argentine physician called Luis Güemes from the early XX century. He studied medicine here in Buenos Aires and then in 1886 moved to Paris to study the career all over again there and stayed in Europe for 15 years before returning home. His thesis in La Sorbonne was named “moral medicine”.
