I think Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn is such a great author. I need to read Cancer Ward.

You spoke so eloquently about Beloved -- something I have such a hard time doing myself because of how difficult and beautiful of a book it is. Thank you for this!

I meant to watch each of these that you released, since the Nobel Prize is an area that interests me, but I have not gotten around to watching these. Obviously, the Nobel Prize in Literature is the area that interests me the most (with the Peace Prize in a close second). The Nobel Prize in Literature will be announced next Thursday, October 13th, and I look forward to hearing who it will be. Haruki Murakami is being deemed a frontrunner, and names such as Adonis, John Banville, Ngugi wa Thiong'o, Philip Roth, Milan Kundera, Amos Oz, and my favorite, Ko Un, are also being considered. I heard about Solzhenitsyn awhile back, but became much more familiar with him after taking a history class about Soviet Russia two years ago. We read One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich and while my instructor was not fond of Cancer Ward, it definitely seems like something that catches my attention. I will be sure to look into it. I read all Nobel Prize winning writers last month and am almost finished with Independent People by Halldor Laxness, which I am completing as a buddy read. Thank you for sharing! :) -Josh

Great video. I just finished Beloved recently and I absolutely agree with you. It was beautiful and heartbreaking

I have read a few of the Nobel Laureats also: Toni Morrison - (2 novels) and Gabriel Garcia Marquez (3) Ernest Hemingway (1), John Steinbeck (1), Herman Hesse (1) I was just scrolling through the list and while so many of the others are well known authors, I haven't read their work. It is a project of mine to read more, like Orhan Pamuk is one author I keep seeing his books everywhere but I don't know where to start.

The Solzhenitsyn books sound very interesting. I've also wanted to pick up more Russian literature, but I've felt a bit intimidated, to be honest. I would love to partake in a read-a-long, if you'd ever want to do one!
