Combinations (vs. Permutations)

preview_player
Показать описание
We define combinations as the ways of choosing objects from a set of an objects. In other words, order does NOT matter. We explain this concept by comparing permutations to combinations--to get from a permutation to a combination, we divide by the total number of ways to order the objects we choose. In other words, nCr = nPr / r!

I tried to include visuals to make this idea as clear as possible, and the formula is at the end.

This was the most helpful tutorial I have found on permutations and combinations because you actually explained what they MEAN. My teacher did not explain the difference between permutations and combinations at all, but you did an excellent job of showing it to me.

Thank you so much for this video! Now this all makes sense. :)
Its so simple but needs to be explained the right way.

Great video. It's rare that statistics teachers help students understand why the equations we use make sense. Very helpful.

Yes I agree. Plus I'e been looking for hours or visual representation of how to group permutations, and this is one of the only videos which explains so precisely how to do it. Thank you!

I can use P and C and understand them quiet well, yet I felt there was still something missing. So I went online and researched the topic, after which my understanding further increased because there are lots of great explanations out there. I found amazing how all of them talk about the same topic yet their approach is so very different. When I was about to call it a day, I came across this video, and I couldn’t believe that finally! yes! I found what I was really looking for because this is the angle I wanted to approach the topic and this is the kind of thinking I was building on my own! It is so very great that this video confirms and complements my deductions and understanding. I am so very grateful for this video. Thanks so much!
