Samba server - Share files from Linux to Windows

Thank you thank you thank you! Spent HOURS trying to get this to work. Your method worked perfectly. I used it to share an external hard drive mounted in my Ubuntu laptop I use as a Plex Server. Had to restart Windows to get it to work like you said and it worked great! Thanks again.

I want to access an external drive plugged into my Ubuntu pc. It contains all the videos for my plex server and they all reside under the "Media" folder, which I have shared, but I am unable to gain access from my windows 10 pc. I keep getting an error messge that I do not have permission to access \\plexserv2\media. Can someone tell me, or perhaps make a video describing the process ? I feel I am close but no luck. I defined user wayne with password on Ubuntu already. Thanks ! Wayne

Thanks for the tutorial. It's worth mentioning that sometimes you need to add an exception to the firewall so Windows recognizes the server. After doing this i was able to login, however i don't have the permissions to create new files inside the shared folder "demo". I also have another folder in the directory called demoUser, which i can't access at all. Any idea with the permission issue?

Hello. I have FILEBROWSER installed on PROXOMOX VM, wanted to share on my local network the folder it is in use for uploading, tried changing the path, no luck. Let's say on VM; docker FILES snap, I want to share the folder called FILES. I tried /FILES, then just FILES, no luck. I made a VM test for SAMBA SERVER only, worked like charm, but NOT on FILEBROWSER. Any advice?

i have a proxmove installed on a 64gb flash drive and the vm partition is out space and so is the iso partition and i want to expand both to a regular physical drive

I can access to server, but cant access a sharde folder, its says You do net have premissions to access //myserver, all sharing setting on windows is on, any suggestions?
