Before using a yixing teapot for the first time, it's better to season it first. Seasoning a yixing teapot will ensure that the vessel is clean, sanitized and pores in the clay are ready to interact with your tea in the best possible way.

I absolutely adore the peach shaped Duan Ni pot I received from you. I really love the artistic detail. The softening effect is spot on. The pour is fantastic. It took me a while to realize where the vent on the lid was. 😆 I have dedicated it to rock oolongs and hongcha. Most of my hongcha is from wuyi so I feel the flavors tend to complement the oolongs from same region well for seasoning. The opening is quite small but I like that on this pot. It wouldn't work as well with compressed aged teas but is fine for loose oolongs and red teas.

I did this, then all i could taste was the detergent of the rag, the rag also lost its color, now i am just letting it sit a few time in pu-her tea hoping its going to improve.

Instead of a towel, consider using a silicone mat.

I don’t recommend doing this. All you need to do to christen a pot is just clean it with boiling water and have patience.
