LYRICS:
I’d been driving round in my car
Rolled down the window beside ya
Blaring out loud of the broken speaker
(Everyday be listening to 90's music)

From that day we'd only be with one another
Gang hangs, bust the jams, meet my mother
There was nothing that could come between us
(Teens tearing up the streets)

(Everyday be listening to 90's music)

Stones at my window, like Romeo
Shot by Cupid with a bow and arrow
Old school, make me drool, roses at my door
(Everyday be listening to 90s music)

Romance from the book, sun-drunk desire
Summer night star-gaze, hands to the sky
You moved to the burbs, many words you meant
(Came back in a year and it just felt different)

Some old song I know
Won't get out of my head
Though the feelings gone
The love ain’t disappeared

But I’ve been missing what you love like, love like
I've been missing what you love like, love like
I remember what you love like, love like
I’ve been missing but it don’t mean we can’t spend
Time listening to...
(Everyday be listening to 90s music)

Out to find me a house with a white picket fence
Wedded, tied to a new life present tense
Stopped at the drive-in of our spring fling
And then the radio played that song we used to sing

Hey - sometimes I think about it
You know I think about it
Hey - sometimes I think about it
(After all these years it just felt different)

Some old song I know
Won't get out my head
Though the feelings gone
The love aint disappeared

But I’ve been missing what you love like, love like
I've been missing what you love like, love like
I remember what you love like, love like
I’ve been missing but it don’t mean we can’t spend
Time listening to...

I love how people keep saying that she's sold out to pop. Meanwhile i've never heard this, or any of Kimbra's songs on the radio.

It's so funny to me that this era was so poorly received by her fans bc it's truly ahead of its time. Golden Echo was an absolute banger of an album and so was Vows, I think in 2021 they can both coexist in peace

this song aged like fine wine. its still sounds so fresh and unique

This song was about... eight years ahead of it's time.

This is probably one of my favorite songs in the new album. I didn't realize I was going to be in such a minority. I don't think Kimbra is a sellout. I actually think she experiments with her music more than other current artists and that might be upsetting for some people. Stop trying to be Keith Butler.

When this song came out, people were in an uproar for it being so far from her deep and jazzy tunes. Today, I can’t imagine this song not being part of her biggest hits repertoire. It’s the song from the golden echo with the most plays. She was definitely ahead of her time, and I’m glad she didn’t allow herself to be pigeon holed. Im still playing this religiously in 2024.

Anyone notice how ahead this music video was on makeup? The glitter, blush and graphic liner I see on Instagram everyday rn!

Im sorry for you all for not finding what's likeable fron this song. This is a radical twist in Kimbra's sound (comparing to her first album) but its pretty good. This is about letting your mind free. MUSIC is about letting your mind free. Try giving a listen to this song 2 or 3 times or listen to it on different days and you will find a point that will turn it likeable. TRUST ME

This song definitely was ahead of it's time and has set the standard of how music will be for the next couple years; mark my words.

There's nobody out there like Kimbra. She has her own style, and she kills it.

This song is a grower, for sure.
A year later, I really dig it.

Incredible that Kimbra was way ahead of the curve and left in good stead to just make things

Kimbra was in her time, not ahead of it. I was there Australia in the beginning. And I saw her recently. It just so happens that quite a bit of her music is timeless. I’m not into her recent collaborations with hip hop artists. She is star quality as a performer and made for big stadiums, however that level of conquering the world never happened, may never happen and who knows if that is necessarily a good thing or not. As long as she remains authentic to herself, and follows her own creative expression. People will always recognise her for her talents.

It's cool if people don't like this song, but I find it sad that some don't get what the video and the song represent. It's connecting 90s nostalgia with past emotional regret; remembering something special she had with someone a long time ago, and the stylized music and imagery of the 90s that goes with that.

I totally get that it's not a sound that's going to appeal to everyone, but it's misguided to think this means she's selling out.

People are going to knock that it doesn't sound like VOWS, but artists can't keep doing the same old thing, they need to experiment to grow. I'm not going to pretend like I'm a giant fan of this particular song, but I can't wait to hear all the differences in the new album. Keep it up the creativity Kimbra!

If anything, people should be appreciating her diversity in the types of songs she creates. Those of you saying it's 'horrible' or that you want the 'old kimbra' are obviously too latched onto her old music to respect and love her new music. Either way she's still kimbra and i'll always love her insane creativity with music. appreciate, people. appreciate.

it is now 2017, but i just want to come back to this video to say something.

when this song/music video was released a couple of years ago, i remembered how much backlash this song received. i'll admit, i was one of the numerous people who didn't immediately get hooked to this song upon first listen, but this song – and Kimbra herself – didn't deserve that much backlash.

this is one of those songs that have to be listened to over and over and over again until you finally realize how much of a genius this woman is.

musicians like Kimbra should be showered with the recognition and appreciation they truly deserve. Vows and The Golden Echo still stand out amongst my list of favourite albums and i don't think that would change any time soon.
