Song has always felt private and intimate. Like we were invited to a private conversation. I think it's what makes it so legendary

13 years later this song is still a masterpiece!

Gotye is one legendary fella. He didn't want the fame and went to his old underground band. Then demonetized his own YouTube-Channel and said all music students worldwide are welcome to use his songs for free. Humble king!

Kimbra’s verse and her performance push this song from great to legendary.

Watching Kimbra sing gives me goosebumps. So much emotion behind every word. Even the oohs and aahs.

Almost 15 years later and this song is still so fucking good. So original, emotional and the depth of instrumental expertise is just….the best.

Proving that a song doesn't need to be overproduced to be powerful.

Both Gotye and Kimbra deserve so much more than to be remembered as a one hit wonder

Gotey’s lyrics hit so right, but dear god, Kimbra’s counter lyrics made the whole song hit so different, it was amazing

Would you all like to see Gotye & Kimbra collab again?

Her interpretation. The way she sings her verse. The way she turns her back on him when the chorus returns... the way all this feels raw and organic. Bravo!

I’ll always remember how when Prince awarded Gotye his Grammy, saying how he (Prince) loved the song. Gotye was doubly rewarded!

I love that they don't actually look at each other until the very end.

The whole act is just a masterpiece: he sings and she's not there, she sings and he doesn't look, then he sings again as she turns her back and they both sing, much like when a relationship is over. You always find yourself having something to say, shout or ask but the person is long gone, and all you can catch or remember is a glimpse of their look when they went away or you left, as they look at each other at the end of the song. Brilliant!

The best part of this song for me was hearing Kimbra for the first time.

The maturity of this song as it’s performed later on really speaks to that of the generation that latched onto this gem.

I'm old. 70. I first heard this song like any other at that time. Then I heard the intricacy of the music and the words. Now I love it. Thanks
