Honestly the fact that it is made of screws and thus can be taken apart fairly easily for repair was one of the main draws for me at first.

You have to review the lypertek tevi! They are truly wireless that has the sound signature your are looking for and only costs 90$!

I just bought these for the built quality and sound quality which seems awesome for the price range (300€). Also I liked the fact that almost every pieces can be manually replaced !
As I'm a 100% casual listener, I hope I will be blown by sound quality

It’s a bit “grandma’s coffee table with bling” for my taste, but I guess you’re either a gold person or you’re not. Much prefer the noir colourway of the Massdrop version.

Guys, any other further pad swappers recommendations? So far tested original Meze Small Pads, Stock larger pads and Brainwavz Oval Micro Suede.

I just received mine today in this color format. I am really impressed with the comfort. As of this writing I have had them on now for 7 hours. I cannot get myself to take them off. I am listening to classic rock mostly through a Dragonfly Red DAC. I like the bass response, for me they sound to my liking. I just ordered the silver wire upgrade from Amazon for $19 as I had a $100 gift card to use. So feel that is well spent. But overall I am quite impressed for the looks, build quality and sound. Did you try the 99 Neos? I can get them for $100 new and don’t know whether to go for it or not.

Might as well buy the 99 noirs from drop... cheaper... also the second set of pads you get with those are better... regular pads... not so good. Check out my review on the emu purplehearts for a good use for second generation meze 99 classic pads.

Hi. Thanks for the review. If you read me 3 years after it, could you tell me which closed back headphones (financially affordable) you'd suggest for your own taste, which is rather mine too. I love my Hifiman Sundara and would like to find something near it that won't be heard by people 10 meters around me. It seems the Meze 99 doesn't quite fit these expectations in terms of sound. Thanks. NB : I can't stand the Bluetooth ANC headphones anymore, I want quality sound.

Hi! Since you mentioned the HD600 here, hope you don’t mind me asking - if I find the HD600 to be a bit lacking in bass, do you think the Meze99 would be a good choice (for closed backs) or would it be too bassy for me? I like the HD600 a lot but am trying to find a pair of closed backs for relaxed and prolonged listening. Just hoping these wouldn’t be too muddy. Thanks in advance!

This is a 15min review without any measurements! I will summarise it as bass heavy, maybe a little unfair but an accurate reflection, refer J. Atkinson 's measurements and summary from Stereophile, similar to mine.
