Trudeau says military report on Ontario long-term care facilities 'troubling'

Military members serving in long-term care homes in Ontario have reported "extremely troubling" cases of alleged elder abuse to provincial authorities, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said today.

Why did it take a military report to highlight this? Nurses have been saying this for decades

Why has it taken the military to write a report on what has been going on. Families have been saying this publicly for years and no one listened.
Our health care has been gutted by one government after another. It’s long past time to pay a living wage and up the number of health care workers in our homes to help address the situation.

Senior citizens in long term care have been ignored for years this is nothing new. The lack of adequate care has always been a big concern. Now that Covid deaths has exposed the system everyone is speaking up.

Really. Why the military report. Why promise paid sick leave with more taxes on our shoulders. Why were places allowed to open and get everybody out to picnic again. What was the point of weeks and weeks of quarantine, then why buy 10 million masks from GM. Battle? When we see Parliament wearing no masks at all. Like really.

Like all the people they stock pile in lodge homes in Ontario, Bed bugs on bed bugs, they wonder and pan handle from boredom and loneliness, while the homes cash their checks and places get rich. I had the same experience with Ste Anne's Veteran's Hospital, in Ste Anne de Bellevue, Quebec. Veterans are treated with TOTAL disregard AND disrespect. My Dad and other Veterans were continually Verbally, Physically and Emotionally ABUSED and NEGLECTED. And, this still continues to this day.

According to the article in National Post titled "Companies managing troubled Ontario long-term care homes run dozens more, make millions in profits" make millions in profits! So, if these companies have been making huge profits but we hear of issues like under-staffing then those issues, together with lack of proper care, especially lack of care don't make sense at all. Why were the millions in profits, not being used to manage the facilities the way they were meant to be managed?

We should consider working with the United States. This is the only country we border. We are receiving PPE from them, and numerous other goods/services. It is essential that we create a system that works for the both of us or we will continue to deal with this harsh xenophobia. Both of our countries cases and deaths are decreasing - even some states/provinces/territories are without new daily deaths or cases.
