Guys, I think Fedora might be liking this Wayland thing quite a bit.

Wayland and Vulkan made it very easy to port Windows App except explicit sync which looks it is coming (Xorg and OpenGL are horrible), I recently ported some internal Enterprise apps to Linux as many Devs nowdays prefer Linux, I was surprised how fast it was and how far Linux has come. We are also planning to port our main paid Products to Linux as they are currently Windows/MacOS due to high customer demand, one question for anyone is developing native app for Linux, is there something like CoreML or DirectML for Linux ?

This is exactly the reason I use greetd, I really like it and would recommend! Using it, you can use sway to launch your sway session, it works wonderfully for me although I'm still experimenting with different frontends, I use the qt one but I'm not 100% sure it's exactly my favourite

Thanks to this video I went ahead and checked whether I was running 0.19 or some cherry-picked git version.
Turn's out I'm still rocking 0.18 on Gentoo :-D

SDDM is being taken over by KDE (probably for the same reason: Wayland support). Since Plasma 6 will recommend Wayland by default it makes sense. Therefore we should be seeing more Wayland-related commits coming for SDDM in the near future, and full, stable support for Wayland in SDDM by the time Plasma 6 releases (end of this year or early next year).

I remember having issues with sddm on arch with wayland, it hanged for a minute after I told it to shut down, the solution was to replace it with a git version from AUR

I am using Sway from long time (was using with Intel Integrated, recently moved to Nvidia, it is pretty good so far), We need more Wayland only build for programs, so we can slowly remove Xorg, this recently came in CERN Linux meeting as next version of RHEL might not include Xorg (maintaining xorg after 2030 will nightmare for them as more and more Wayland features will come)

sddm update cycle is absolutely hideous, to the point where if you are using a bleeding edge, it is more sensible to use the git version of the package

I've been using SDDM running inside a hyprland session for a few months now. The only problems I've had are the menus popping up in the wrong places, and a weird issue with SDDM rendering at a really low color depth that looks straight out of Windows 98, which apparently is a known issue on AMD GPUs.

Fedora KDE is planning on dropping X11 pretty soon actually.

DWM on gentoo with no display manager, when I log in on tty1 I run a script to manually do all the X11 stuff. I'd love to switch wayland if the security features could be disabled, half my things need global direct access to keyboard, cursor, and screenshare, and the only thing stopping xwayland from allowing it is the security stuffs
