Sir, i would call it as paying tribute to a legend and to an all time biggest hits of his. Loved it all the way. Brilliantly done. I was simply mesmerized by the effort and the high quality of vocals and vocal tone exhibited by Atif Aslam. Sir, your reactions were simply amazing especially when yourself first got the feel that it was Billie Jean. Sir, I totally agree that unexpected stuff is pleasing if done well. And this was an unexpected and altogether different version of Billie Jean which made me glued to the screen. Coke Studio earlier seasons had a lot of mashups of local songs aswell withh added melody, also a fusion of modern and traditional, it was the idea behind Coke Studio, mix modern and traditional. And Even I may heard it before, but forgot and again I was surprised even now. It was tributr to him apparently as he died same year. Also would love to know which Metallica song you heard there.
