I don't necessarily think that forward is the correct cue. I absolutely agree in a piste setting, but in a lot of lower density snows and if you are actually surfing on top of powder rather than just essentially skiing the bed surface underneath, If you were to actively pressure the front of your boot the entire time, you would probably pretty quickly dive your tips and flip over. Off piste requires a considerably more neutral and balanced position rather than just a forward position, and many would actively argue that it is even slightly back seat. You would have to have a super oversized ski both in width and in length in order to apply frontal pressure the same as you would on the piste and receive similar frontal pressure back through the ski without having it dive.
