🌟 The dissolution of the Soviet Union was the process of internal disintegration within the Soviet Union (USSR) which resulted in the end of the country's and its federal government's existence as a sovereign state, thereby resulting in its constituent republics 🇷🇺🇱🇹🇱🇻🇪🇪🇧🇾🇺🇦🇬🇪🇦🇲🇦🇿🇰🇿🇰🇬🇺🇿🇹🇲🇹🇯 gaining full sovereignty on 26 December 1991. The leaders of three of its founding members declared that the Soviet Union no longer existed 🇷🇺🇧🇾🇺🇦 . Eight more republics joined their declaration shortly thereafter. Gorbachev resigned in December 1991 and what was left of the Soviet parliament voted to end itself.
🌟 After Transnistria War the bloody battle of Tighina in 1992 resulted in victory of the separatists from Moldova  🇲🇩 , who had earlier declared the independence of Transnistria, following a Russian military intervention in Transnistria which is still present today in the area and which still defends the Transnistrian regime today despite Moldovan requests to withdraw from what still legally is its internationally recognized land. Following the end of the war, Transnistria has made several requests for becoming a part of Russia 🇷🇺 .
🌟 Chechen independence as the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria in 1991 ended in 2000 during the second Chechen war resulting the capture of Grozny by Russian forces and the fall of the separatist Chechen government to become the first country to be annexed by Russia 🇷🇺 after the dissolution of the Soviet union .
🌟 After the Russo-Georgian War 🇷🇺🇬🇪 , President Medvedev signed decrees on 26 August 2008 recognising the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia as sovereign states. Russia established diplomatic relations with these partially recognised states and placed Russian troops in both. Russian security forces were deployed along the demarcation lines with Georgia .
🌟 The Russian military intervention in the Syrian civil war 🇸🇾 began in September 2015, after an official request by the Syrian government for military aid against rebel groups . Russian special forces 🇷🇺 are still on the ground in Syria (especially in Idlib) where they provide training and support attacks on the rebels as of September 2019. In response to Turkey 🇹🇷 launching Operation Peace Spring, Syrian Army supported by Russian forces 🇸🇾🇷🇺 enter Manbij, Al-Thawrah, Raqqa, Ain Issa, Tell Tamer and Kobani as of October 2019 after a deal is reached with the SDF .
🌟 In February and March 2014, Russia 🇷🇺 invaded and subsequently annexed the Crimean Peninsula from Ukraine 🇺🇦 . And in February 2022, Russia 🇷🇺 launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine 🇺🇦 after recognizing the Donetsk People's Republic and the Luhansk People's Republicas independent states .
