Great overview. I am hoping to see some playthroughs of Dead Reckoning on the channel. The theme, player interaction, components, card crafting mechanic, variability, strategic and tactical approach and more make this one of my favorite games of all time. I had a chance to play Saga 3 (Flags of the Old World) at GenCon and had a blast.

What sagas would you say are essential? Would the base game be enough and adding sagas as you play be better?

I really need a pirate game for my collection. The problem is, getting heavier and/or longer games (1.5 hour+) to the table is very difficult in my family. Does Dead Reckoning have a solo mode and if so, how is it?

I own the base game from the first KS 2+ years ago. I only bought the first saga to see what it contained, and I am happy with my purchases. I took the playable pieces from the first saga and integrated them into the base game, but do not play the saga.

Currently it is the balancing act of the base game is already spectacular. Does this 3rd saga (plus a fair amount of base game expansion) make my experience that much better or does it give it too much bloat to where this ship will never launch from game shelf to table for just under $75 (saga 3 plus shipping). But a legit price as the transparent cards are expensive and I want to see AEG and other game companies make a profit.

That is what I am still hesitant on making the jump on this. Though if you do not own the base game, it is the best pirate game and experience out there. The base KS for this is totally worth it.
