Sovereign Citizen Myth Debunked: Traveling vs. Driving #automobile #travel

Driving is a privilege, not a right

Did you know that if you don’t need a driver’s license, registration, or insurance if you are not transporting commercial goods or passengers for pay? At least, that’s what Sovereign Citizens think.

The problem is, that is absolutely FALSE!

Sovereign Citizens claim that because we have a right to travel, the government doesn’t have the authority to restrict that right through vehicle registrations, insurance, and licenses.

This argument has routinely been dismissed by the Courts because regulating a method of travel does not inherently interfere with the right to travel.

Driving on public roads is a privilege, and all privileges are subject to regulation. (according to the Courts. Don't shoot the messenger!)

I love how none of them ever stopped to consider the very obvious fact that you can be simultaneosly travelling and driving.

“Sovereign citizens” is such a great self contradictory term. If you are “sovereign” you are not “citizens”. Citizens are individual members of an actual nation who answer to its laws and live under its political apparatus. If you are “sovereign” and have no nation you are not a “citizen”. You’re just an individual who sounds crazy standing around spouting nonsense.

A lot of uneducated comments. Driving is a privilege and has nothing to do with traveling. The Supreme Court already ruled on this. Watching sovcits does make for Hilarious content.

They are totally free to travel without the proper papers. As passengers in buses, trains, and airplanes. They can walk, run, or bicycle all they want without a driver's license, totally legal.

The best way I heard it was "Yes you have a right to travel, and you are free to do so using your own feet." If you are going to be "traveling" using any kind of a motorized "conveyance/vehicle/road canoe" you need to have the relevant licenses, registrations and insurances.

So by that logic I wouldn't need a pilots license either for flying a plane - because I'm just traveling through the air?!

Lots of sovereign citizens in these comments. And unfortunately a lot of people who shouldn't be driving.

What I don't get about sovereign citizens is if your not a citizen the laws still apply to you. If I'm not American and break a law in America I still get in trouble.

I watched a video where the cop asked the sovcit, "What seat are you sitting in, the passenger seat, the travelers seat, or the drivers seat?" Sovcit instantly went silent. 😂😂😂😂😂

SOVERGN CITIZENS only refer to a few of The United States Constitution, but yet, they fail to state the 10th Admindment.

They always fail to bring that up

You do not need a license to travel. You just need one to drive. Walk as far as you want.

The way that it works is that when you are driving on a PUBLIC road, you are driving on federal or state property. Meaning that you follow the rules of said state or the federal government. However, this does not apply on road that are PRIVATELY owned except if the owner has their own set of rules that you must follow but if you own a road that’s on private property, you can drive anything you want with or without a drivers license. You have a right to travel but your method of traveling is dictated by what LEGAL methods you have at your disposal.

Well, the sovereign citizen movement has it correct but only on three basic forms of travel: by foot, by horse, or by horse drawn carriage. None of those require a license. However, automobiles have been licensed practically since day, one! Reason being, You have to be in total control at all times while driving! That means you require training, and that license is proof that you received said training. Also, because of the nature of automobiles, estate needs to know who owns them, so that responsibility can be attached During circumstances were an accident, or other similar circumstances happen. Also, as a result of the litigious nature of current society, insurance is mandatory. So, when a sovereign citizen says that they are traveling while driving, they better produce a drivers license because, if they don’t, that car can be impounded and they won’t be allowed to drive ever again.

Driving is when you're dribbling the ball towards the basket to score.
Travelling is when dribbling no longer applies to star players.

I love watching sovereign citizens finding out they are wrong and getting put in cuffs and taken to jail.

I've seen videos that give case precedence saying that the rulings say we don't have to have a license. I looked them up but didn't understand the legalese of the rulings.
