King seems like such a cool person to just have a chat and coffee with.

Stephen King: "I wrote a book called The Stand..."

Everyone: "We may have noticed that one."

It will be such a loss when King passes. I think he been taken for granted for so long that people don't fully appreciate his place in American culture.

Can you imagine being anxious about Covid when you go for groceries and then you bump into Stephen King peering at you from behind a mask?

Both Stephens seemed really giddy to talk to each other, Colbert was talking to what seemed an idol, and king is just happy to have a chat with his fan.

Colbert: What about Jack Torrance?

King: I WAS Jack Torrance.

Never apologize for the stand. It is a classic. It is one of my favourite books of all time. It is a huge comment on humanity, community, and society. Good vs evil.

"What a lovely man" is not a phrase that ever rolls off my tongue but damn if it isn't the first thing that popped into my head for Horror Master King here. Crazy how all those terrifying stories came out of such a kind gentle unassuming feller.

Colbert is so elated at what King said about Lord of the Rings. Smile doesn't leave his face at all lol

I wouldn’t want to be quarantined with Jack Torrence either. We all know how quarantine worked out for him first time around. 😆

I'd be all for a pre-rabid Cujo as a quarantine mate.

If you read his books, you can really see the Lord of the Rings influence in King's writing. Every character, and place has a detailed history. The world feels "lived in." In that, the place existed long before the characters showed up.

I love that feeling, that these places won't evaporate the moment you close the book.

I used to avoid Mr King's books because I thought "horror" would be cheesy. Now I've read over 50 and realize its so so much more then that the man is a genius.
