I always get a laugh when anyone says, "fill in your pots with pool noodles to save soil". I did that several years ago, planted my plants in the pot and set it out on my deck. That night we had a heavy rain and the next morning.... All my plants were on my deck😢 . I like most of you thought that was a great idea, BUT, PLEASE REMEMBER POOL NOODLES WERE MADE TO FLOAT IN WATER. So if your not going to place your pot under a roof of some sort where the rain doesn't get to it DON'T DO THIS! I've heard several people saying to do this same thing. But not one tells you to only do this with pots your going to sit under a roof of some sort. HAPPY PLANTING!!

Master gardener here, don’t fill your plant pots with anything other than soil. You run the risk of root rot so much quicker and it’s just not really good for the roots in general. If you don’t want to buy potting soil to fill the whole planter, you’d be better off digging up some dirt from the ground and using that in the bottom rather than pool noodles! Also don’t use empty plastic bottles, rocks, or any other random thing people on the internet tell you to use!

Let me make 1 correction on the flower planting. Always take a small sharp paring knife and GENTLY mess up the roots of your plants and flowers EACH AND EVERY TIME, no matter where you're planting. It will allow the roots to restart fresh in their new home. And I always REALLY big when I am using planters. I want to give my plants and flowers as much room to grow as I am able. But, I DO love the idea you had about the planters making holes!

The best free things to use as fillers for flower pots are old flower pots and card board.

For the pillow, if u stuff it with old grocery bags, it will hold up better in the rain and dry faster.

Porch! Thank you for another video with amazing ideas. I use the Styrofoam sheets that line my home delivered meals in my planters. I break it in chunks for drainage at the bottom, then 'scratch' it as a substitute for the SPENDY Perlite!

For the condiment hack if you add a foil baking sheet with ice under it, it'll stay cool for hours. Great for charcuterie items too!

Love the pillow hack. I always use surbond fabric glue sticks they hold up to washing. 💖💖

I thought the white planters were beautiful with the shrubs on the front porch…However, those shrubs need more room to grow. You would be wasting your money putting the same size plant into a planter with the same size opening as lovely as it is.

I use empty soda and water bottles to fill large planters. Works great and since our town doesn't recycle it saves the plastic from the land fill.

The thing about hot glueing placemats together for an outdoor pillow is that the glue will melt in the heat and your pillow will begin to fall apart with a slightly gooey mess.
