Today I am cooking at home and baking soft Mexican style molasses cookies known as marranitos. This translates to little pigs, which is the shape of the cookie. These spiced molasses cookies are a childhood favorite.

My favorite since I was a little girl and the youngest in the family. They always saved it for me! I am 70 now, still love them with my coffee!

One of my favorites! I like that they are not overly sweet, and are delicious with a cup of hot black coffee.

These are a staple in a Mexican household on Sunday's!! We'd eat these with a cup of Abuelita cocoa....if you could make some Atole de arroz I'd appreciate it

Maranitos!!! 😭 You've brought back so many memories when I use to work at my Dad's panaderia. My dad was from Mexico, so all ingredients came from a small book that held ingredients of all his creations.

Our work ethic was always on point! Which I loved!💗 Your recipe is almost the same.

My job was placing each cut-out maranito on the pans, and brushing the egg on top of each. There was always a routine for each type of pan Mexicano created by my dad. I have one of his maranito-shape cutter he used. Each mold used to cut were made personally by my dad. Just letting you know watching this video brought my mom, and I, to tears. 😭 Thank you for sharing you art of cooking and baking. We are always watching.💗💗💗💗💗

Oh I love these! My grandpa would but them and put them I his truck and on Saturday mornings we would go out and "help" him, by devouring these. Brings back good memories and I will be making some!!

I was so excited to try this recipe and thanks to your links I could finally buy my marinto cutter. But mine came out dry. I'm a semi experienced baker so I definitely need to tweak to make them just a touch softer. Flavor was spot on! I used anise extract instead of ground. Thank you so much for sharing this recipe. It's going into my recipe folder! Oh and if you have any suggestions to make them a little softer I'm all ears lol.

Molasses cookies were always one of my gramma’s best! I have her recipe and their has to be something she left out as they don’t taste the same as hers did. I’m going to try adding the Anise and see if that works!! She always made them round and I either have a round cutter, Christmas cutters, gingerbread men and dog biscuits lol! No piggies!

My boyfriend loved them, and my mother said they tasted just like the panderia!! 😁😁

I followed the recipe except.... I used almond milk, no anise, and 2 tablespoons of vanilla extract. I did have to add a couple more tablespoons of flour after it was fully mixed.
