Starting & Driving My Truck With SuperCapacitor Battery Replacement

I built a wood box to house the supercapacitor battery replacement and went on a day long road trip to try it out.

I built a box and put on real battery terminals. Then I mounted it into my truck to prepare for a road trip. This is the ultimate test. Driving my truck with capacitors instead of a starting battery for an entire day on the road.

The truck fires right up stronger than with a battery. This is the first thing that I noticed after installing this battery replacement.

With supercapacitors you do not have to run the vehicle long in order to fully charge them back up. These are fully charged within a minute or two when the vehicle is running.

I can start the vehicle. Shut it off and start it back up again with no problem. Supercapacitors charge up immediately.

We drove down to visit my family for Mothers day. We drove the truck around town for a couple hours as well. We must have started and stopped the vehicle about 15 to 20 times during our day of driving and visiting people.

The capacitors never failed to start the vehicle. Only one time I had a scare when I let off the starter switch before the vehicle was running. It took three tries to get the truck to fire up. At that time it was turning slowly and I was afraid it would not start but it did.

We drove with headlights, windshield wipers and heater going most of the day with no problem. The truck performed well and the voltage remained steady all day.

The supercapacitor battery replacement worked well today.

Troy, those capacitors may be fine for providing a short burst of energy to start the engine. But what happens if your alternator fails? Batteries have enough reserve capacity to get you home in an emergency. With the capacitors, if your alternator failed, you would probably be out of luck.

you should add a RC battery in with the supercaps. the battery kan keep the supercaps topped off

It's the law in Memphis Tn. Had to buy one for granddaughter number 1. Daughter got one at the yard sale, it had a flaw and hospital said not gonna happen, daughter called me and I went to the baby super store and got one. That was 22 years ago. I raised her, she graduated high school at 15, graduated college at 19, and now in Kentucky getting her phd. I have another granddaughter 6...., I like being a grandmother. I guess that's why I'm excited for the baby. Melanie needs to make a baby wish list.. I'm not sure but I think Walmart does one. That way people that buy for the baby shower can help gather your "baby theme" together. Have y'all did a sonogram yet? Do you know if it's a boy or girl? Oh another thing that can help is go on eBay. Search baby clothes and you will find that people will sell name brand baby clothes in a "lot" for real cheap.as baby grows you search under infants, then toddler, then youth. These are used but babies grow so fast they still look new and it can save a lot of money. To be honest I only bought new stuff if I was having the child's picture taken. I like you two. I mean you no harm.

Add about 20 Lithium 18650 cells to recharge the capacitors when they get low. Your net weight savings is 40 pounds!

Also, capacitors aren't batteries, a car battery it made to act like a limited capacitor, to provide cranking amps when needed(constant high amps to crank the engine, while starting it as well), and then power all other functions like a normal battery, IE, radios, lights, ect. Things that draw large amounts of current. Capacitors can crank an engine, but leave on a radio system, or anything for too long and it will be an issue. Super caps aren't anything new, they are meant for high amps and fast charge/discharge.

One must wonder why we still use batteries, and thats because batteries and capacitors, while similar, have two different areas of use. And thats why car batteries cover both in some way.

Focus more on important things, rather than capacitors and other "experiments". You know the outcome already to most of these situations.

Focus on your broken down car
Focus on your chicken coup
Focus on your garden
Focus on properly maintaining your existing batteries.

Focus on getting things actually done for once.
