This was THE love story film of our generation.We in tropical countries simply loved the snowy background for much of the film.The music was something to rave about as was the acting, photography and direction.Long before the age of the internet and 'videos going viral' stage, the saying 'Love means never having to say you are sorry' went truly viral around the world in the then 1970s

I learned to play this theme when I was 10. I'm now teaching others how to play. I've not see the film for over 40 years or more. Amazing how such a beautiful tune can still inspire so many. I now also compose my own music.

I have seen it in 1970 at Mumbai when I was graduating there and again I see this movie in 2020 few days back at Boston when I was residing near to Harvard.

My date for this movie and I talked about it 5 years ago at our 40th high school reunion. We were 13 at the time and it was her turn to pick a movie and I thought ugh a chick flick, I wanted a scary movie so she would hold on tight. We missed the first couple of minutes of the movie and missed Oliver's telling what happened so we thought it was going to be boy meets girl, they fall in love, get married and live happily ever after. When Oliver got Jen's diagnosis my gf goes something like "no, oh no, not Jen. From then on she was on my shoulder and in my arms, partially soaking me crying. It turned out for me better than any scary movie and I actually got a little emotional too. She said at the class reunion it was the most emotional movie she had ever seen and it was something talking about that night oh so long ago. Too bad our 45th reunion this summer just got cancelled. I just got the blu-ray and it was still so powerful and nostalgic for me even though being a little dated. I highly recommend this movie with great acting, good musical score and give it a 5 star rating!

Critics were polarized at first when it came out.
The movie is still a big deal at Harvard university with annual showings.
Love how fast it moves, the beautiful touching score, both leads have undeniable chemistry, and it shows young romance's highlights and struggles.
I did get a few tears by the end as well.
