Newly restored from a 4K film transfer for its 50th Anniversary, LOVE STORY, one of the most romantic movies of all time, is still as impactful as ever. Nominated for seven Academy Awards®, including Best Picture, and based on Erich Segal’s bestselling novel that defined a generation, it’s a timeless, unmatched tale from the heart. Harvard students Oliver (Ryan O’Neal) and Jennifer (Ali MacGraw) come from opposite backgrounds, but they share a chemistry they cannot deny—and a love they can’t ignore. Despite Oliver’s wealthy father threatening to disown him, the young couple marries and begins to build their new life together. But fate has other plans, and soon Oliver and Jennifer face a crisis only the strongest of loves can endure.

Featuring: Ali MacGraw, Ryan O'Neal, John Marley, Ray Milland, Russell Nype, Katherine Balfour, Robert Modica, Syd Walker, Walker Daniels, Tommy Lee Jones

Truly an icon. That poster, that piano theme, the two beautiful leads, they symbolise an era. RIP, Ryan O'Neal. You will always be remembered.

Fun fact: 2 years later, Ryan O'Neal appeared in "What's Up Doc", with Barbra Streisand as the female lead. At the very end, she says to him "Love means never having to say your're sorry" and he responds "That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard."

I read this book when I was about 10 and I didn't really understand what was happening. I do remember feeling sorrow, though. 5 years later, I re-read this book and I cannot handle this. The way Erich Segal wrote every word and every sentence is a huge part of this impactful story itself. Love it and hate it at the same time but I can't help loving this amazing novel.😭❤

This movie appeared on network TV in 1972 just two years after it's very successful theatrical release in 1970. I was 6 going on 7 so it was quite impactful and memorable. The movie version (as opposed to the book) never said specifically why Jenny died (leukemia?), but it was more about the strained son-father boy-girl relationships, but yeah then the young girl suddenly turns up gravely ill and dies which made for a touching final act, and of course the famous line, "Love means never having to say you're sorry". Just watched it again for the first time in decades, and, well, it still resonates. It made two actors famous for a time, and touched a lot of hearts and minds way back when (and it has Tommy Lee Jones with real hair). But what strikes me most now is that no one makes movies like this anymore, sad but true.

My parents saw this movie at the drive-in theater back when this first came out not a dry eye in the whole parking lot people were bawling their eyes out including my mom (dad made a bee line for the snack bar when the tear jerking scene of her dying in the hospital part came about to avoid being seen crying 😭😂 so my mom told me 😂) years later me as an adult finally seen the movie and like my mom I bawled my eyes out at that very part of the movie 😭 definitely a classic with good actor's in it 👍👍
