Ragnarok is coming. It’s been a long four years since Kratos and Atreus blew us away in God of War (2018), and now it’s finally time to conclude their story. The GameSpot team has been playing God of War Ragnarok, and in the video above, give their spoiler-free impressions on its opening hours, and so far, so good. 

God of War Ragnarok takes place a few years after the end of God of War, with Kratos, Atreus, and Mimir spending the years training and preparing for the impending Ragnarok. Tamoor, Lucy, and Jake discuss how the emotional opening sets up the rest of the game and how Ragnarok feels familiar but makes some subtle changes.

Hey folks! After we filmed this yesterday, I checked the settings to see where quick turn went and it exists!! It's just rebound (L1 and down on the DPAD) so we all missed it. Wanted to issue a quick correction  🙏

Interesting. Definitely makes sense that it would start off funnier than the first which started with pure grief and they hadn’t strengthened their bond yet. Plus Mimir is there from the start now

I've had a running theory that Kratos is going to wield Mjolnir, the fact that they've now freed up one of the d-pad buttons makes me hopeful
On a related note, I also kinda hope Kratos takes Thor's belt and bracers. He's already so strong, I'd love to see how much more powerful he becomes

That guy in the middle has the best input on his experience with the game demo. A lot of good, informative opinions.
I expected to hear that it's basically the first game, extended. But there actually are some real good little additions that I think will make this game feel even more fleshed out and smooth.

The comments about the lack of a quick-turn; surprised they focused on that so much. For me, I never used it in my playthroughs of GoW(2018). I personally play with higher RS sensitivity; making the quick-turn unnecessary anyways. Sounds like everything else about the combat has been made to feel even more fluid than the first game.

I seriously cannot wait for this game! Haven't been this hyped for a game in YEARS!!

I wonder if the sad part at the beginning is we get a glimpse of Atreus mom and we see a sweet and sad moment between them.

I’m happy we have mimir from the start and how he fits into the family the way you guys stated. Kratos and Atreus saved him from from eternal torture stuck to a tree and now he helps his new brothers on crazy adventures going against his old allies turned enemies.

My first ever pre-order for a game was back in 2018 for God of War. The 2nd pre-order I've made is for God of War Ragnarok. That shows how much I love this series ❤
