It happens to me, its called older age thumb sucking. It helps with people that have severe anxiety. Yes, it can harm your teeth and cause an overbite so i recommend using mouth guards which can help stop an overbite also gnawing the teeth.

I’m 18 and I still suck my two fingers idkw I do but I really want to stop, it’s like I’ve tried when I’m sleeping but I find it better when I’m about to sleep I only do it when I’m comfortable and proper relaxed eg watching tv and whilst sleeping

I'm literally 12 but I still suck my thumb it is so hard to stop but I really want to especially right now I got stitches the other day and I'm so stressed sucking my thumb calms me down and helps me sleep. I have tried putting hot sauce on my finger but it didn't help and my teeth are in pretty good condition

My almost 7 year old sucks his thumb A LOT! Whenever he has down time. Sometimes as he's walking around the house. Even when we are in Church. I don't think that he really does it at school, but then he bites his nails instead. I'm not so concerned about him needed braces, I've resigned myself to the fact that he will need them. I'm worried that he has anxiety, and is doing it to cope! I wish that he didn't feel the need/impulse to do it! Idk, maybe I'm projecting, 'cause I sucked my thumb until I was 10 years old due to stress. But, I only ever did it at home.

My toddler, 2 years 10 months old sucks her index and middle finger right before sleeping and in between too when she gets uneasy she sucks to put herself back to sleep.
