Nice intro! I've been aware of this game for awhile, and the topic interests me, but never knew much about it. You've piqued my interest and I'm looking forward to the rest of your coverage on this.

Will tackle this one after finishing your Nations at Arms playlist. Had this one in my backlog for many many years. Unplayed yet so tempting.

Steve really glad you are giving this one a go. This is one of the first war games I played & I really like it though I kinda forgot it and haven't played it in some time. When I first got into the hobby I thought with all the free vassal support, why would anyone ever buy a war game? Over time I now rarely play a game on vassal (I'm primarily a solo just the physical feel of the counters, moving across a real map, etc. Funny huh? Looking forward to following this series.

I think you are right in that there are a lot of other historical instances where this game system can be applied. I have in a mind for example the history and conflicts of of some of the civilizations of SE Asia or maybe the Mongol or Hun invasions

I also like the concept of these type games where each turn is like a generational turn. The broad sweep and struggles of civilizations. Onward brother!

Just starting to watch this series now. It'll be fun to see how it plays out. It sounds like the level of detail on unit types is way out of whack with the strategic scope and 25-year turns, but maybe the rule of cool prevails. It's hard to say no to elephants.

I remember playing this one years ago and really enjoying the gameplay but not the combat system and major powers (with generic "Greece" and "East" feeling quite off for me. I'll need to revisit it😁

Looks great, I have the 1st Edition and don’t have the C3i magazine, should generate an interesting story
A nice juicy Ancients game

This is great. I was always wondering about this scenario how good it could be. This Greco-Persian conflict seems to be much more interesting then the Rome stuff. Where we would be now if Persians had overruned Greeks and became dominant in Mediterranean? Would Persians held firm against Mongols? Would all we be Persians or Mongols? :-)
