I have a question for you Math sleuths. I am going back to college and going over my basic math. Its been 15 years since I sat down and did any math homework. I am stumped on a problem asked of me. I am to convert .285714 to a fraction. I got in its simplest form. However, when I checked the answer key, I was shocked. It said the answer was 2/7. How did they get to that fraction? What is the work involved? I have tried to follow directions on every math site (including this one) to convert decimals to fractions. It works with most but not this one. Am I missing a step?
