METHOD 1: Use a Dishwasher - with a sterilizing cycle if it has one.
And even if you use a dishwasher, there are certain steps you still need to take to avoid contamination that we’ll cover in this video.
METHOD 2: Wash Dishes By Hand
Step 1: Sanitize the Sink
Step 2: Wash the dishes. Use hot water and dish detergent (we like Dawn or Dawn Ultra) and some sort of scrub or brush.
Temperature range between 95-120 degrees Fahrenheit. Wear gloves so you don't burn yourself.
Step 3: Rinse You need the hottest water for this step. Remove with utensil or clean hands/gloves.
At this point, the dishes need to be clean and not have grease on them.
Food or grease buildup won't allow the disinfectant to get through.
Step 4 Disinfect
Hot water method
Chlorine bleach solution method: Soak dishes for at least 1minute in a sanitizing solution. Add 1 tablespoon of chlorine bleach to 1 gallon of water.
Step 5 Dry the Dishes
How you dry your dishes and utensils also plays an important role in kitchen sanitation.
