Premier Guitar Lesson - Counterpoint Example

This video is to supplement a very geeky article I got to write for @premierguitar. You can check it out here, where you'll find transcriptions/tabs:

I played this example with a clean tone on my @ernieballinc/Music Man Silhouette Special as well as my @SadowskyGuitars Electric Nylon String so you could get a sense of the example on two different guitars. To my ears, counterpoint sounds great in all sorts of contexts.

⚠️This article will NOT be for everyone, to be sure, but it was an absolute joy and education to pour so much into this one. 🤘🤓

Hope it might be helpful, interesting, or at least entertaining to anyone willing to read a VERY long lesson on compositional techniques rooted in the classics and being used by modern day guitar players... and how these techniques can expand you creatively.

Thank you to the composer/gutiarists included--Steven Mackey, @AlexandraZernerRocks, Jonathan Kreisberg, and @OfficialDanieleGottardo--for making the time to dive in deep and help me make sure I got things right.

And for anyone who actually makes it through the looooong and dense article, I'll be releasing a few more videos of the more technical examples in the coming days.

ah such beautiful music and flawless technique once again! I have "tried" this type of thing a few times in the past (Steve Morse's "Air on a 6 string" was one as well as writing a few of my own) but I get very frustrated and go on to other things after a while. Try again, I must!
