Language, like many other things is divided between those who want to isolate themselves from the rest of the world, and those who want to bridge the gap. The gap bridgers like to port words between languages separated by time. The isolators want to keep foreign words and influences away from there language and culture.
I find it much easier to learn foreign language as a gap bridger and I've always been one.
My theory is that all language is translated back into the same experience and therefore all has the same root.
The isolators would have to hold that each language and even dialect goes back to only one geographical location and everyone else must obey their rules.
I and many others however think that the dead don't retain such rights unless they can summon a ghost to scare us away from their tongues, and any number of armies can't pry the language I have taken back out from my mouth.
