Today in our Spanish for Beginners in 10 minutes video we will be covering all the basics you need. When you learn Spanish, it's important that you have a basic foundation and these words and phrases I show you today are a great place to start.

Learning these foundational Spanish words will allow give you something to build on when you begin to stack them together. But one of the may things you need to remember is that if you truly want to learn to speak Spanish, you will have to go out there and actually speak.

I promise you that the more you are willing to use your Spanish in real situations the faster you are going to learn it. One of the main reasons people don’t learn Spanish is because they are afraid to be wrong. Here's the thing. You shouldn't be afraid of saying something wrong in Spanish. As a matter of fact, here's a secret to learning Spanish: Make mistakes! Don't be afraid or ashamed of those mistakes. This is important because by failing you will make amazing progress.

My husband is from Puerto Rico and I feel like I miss out on so much when he and our children speak in Spanish. I can understand quite a bit sometimes I can’t respond. I am so glad I found your videos to help me learn to speak Spanish properly and not my super broken version.

I've been doing my self study about Spanish language during this pandemic and I've found out that Tagalog/Filipino(language in the Philippines) has a lot in common with Spanish words. Likewise, it kinda easier for me to pronounce the words specially those with R. This can be a good sign that I'd be able to learn the language.

I have always wanted to be fluent en español but never put forth the effort to learn it. I just recently started a new job and the most precious Hispanic girl works in my department (she speaks English and Spanish very well) then another started in my department (she speaks very little English) then her sister started! (Also speaks very little English) all three of them are such sweet people so I am trying my damnest to learn Spanish! Everyday, piecing together their conversations get easier and easier! Plus it’s just a very good skill to have!

One of the hardest things I’ve come across is asking coworkers how to say certain things.. but they all have different ways of saying things... one coworker from Peru another one from Argentina and other from Puerto Rico lol

this may or may not cross anyone's feed but i've been learning spanish since i was 12 and i'm now 18. the fear of saying things wrong caused me not to say them at all and no practice led to me forgetting everything. a little over 6 months ago i made a friend and he moved from Puerto Rico 5 years ago fluent in English and Spanish and it became obvious how much of a " Gringa " i was. most of the conversations he had on the phone i cant understand and not that id need to but it would be nice to connect with him where he feels safe and at home. and yesterday around 2 am i stumbled across "how to talk Spanish with a Puerto rican" and i decided its never to late or to long to pick it up again and in 24 hours words and phrases are coming back to me like i never stopped. and i hope to surprise him with it next time he comes over. i guess all this is to say don't give up and don't be afraid.

I totally agree with your comments about making mistakes. I 'taught' English in my ancestral home (now Czech Republic) for seven years, and some really bright folks of various ages seemed absolutely terrified of making mistakes, and would often hesitate to speak. Sad, really

I’m trying to learn to speak Spanish as fast as I can so I can better help my Spanish speaking students and parents. Thank you for your videos. I will make flash cards and use these words throughout my day over and over so they become second nature. I’m looking forward to following your YouTube channel!

One of my friends was born and raised in Puerto Rico and Spanish is his first language. He’s Chinese. His parents owned a Chinese restaurant. His second language is Cantonese then English. It’s funny listening to him speak. Many people mix Cantonese with English. He mixed it with Spanish.
