I just realized the reason that Gordon was even in the test chamber that day(and why they stole his helmet) is because he literally pissed everyone off and was constantly walking around the facility like a dangerous, mute, lunatic.

Also explains why he didn't have ANY biometric access and had to depend on other people to open secure doors for him.

Also want to point out, the reason the scientists acted so weird to him makes perfect sense now. They were thinking 'Oh great, it's THIS FUCKING GUY. It's the worst day of my life, and everyone is dead.... And THIS FUCKING GUY is my best chance at making it out of this mess alive.'
