I will miss 2010's because those years were the biggest part of my childhood, and I learned so many lessons in those years.

In Poland in 2010 we had a terrible air disaster. On 10 April, a plane carrying the presidential couple and 94 other people crashed. They were vice-marshals, commanders of all branches of the Polish Armed Forces and heads of state institutions. And many important people for the state. They flew to lay wreaths. Unfortunately, no one survived.

In fact, the 2010s were quite active years for Turkey. In 2013, Turkey witnessed the biggest protests in its history in Gezi Park. In 2015, there were several terrorist attacks and a large uprising in the eastern cities. In 2016, there was a coup attempt that lasted 8 hours and resulted in the death of close to 400 people and the arrest of tens of thousands of people. In 2019, it started to experience the biggest economic collapse seen after 2001. Apart from cutting kebabs and wearing a fez, they were quite action-packed years.

The 2010s were a huge step backwards compared to the 2000s here in Germany. It was a decade plagued by financial uncertainty, social polarization and general lack of optimism. The 2020s seem even worse.

Spending The 2010s in Germany was quite good.

There was ample opportunity to work as teenager, you could go to school and earn money for your first car, vacations, partying etc.

If you would give me the chance to be 10 in 2010 Germany again, I would say hell yeah.

I stayed at a little hostel in a Tokyo suburb a few years ago. The owner panicked because she saw me drink a glass of water from the tap and started talking about the Fukushima disaster. I got a little freaked out and asked her if there was radioactive stuff in the water, but then she started vehemently denying there was any, then started talking about how clean the water was.

"But I still shouldn't drink the tap water?"
"No."
"But it's clean, right? And no radiation?"
"Yes. But don't drink it."
"What's this about Fukushima though?"
"Yes so unfortunate what happened there"
