I loved math as a child. When I was 10 years old however I started struggling a little bit. By the time I was 13 I was really struggling. Then I got a math tutor, who was a part-time math teacher. He voluntarily helped me. He showed me that I wasn’t stupid. As a matter fact I was extremely gifted toward math. But I was bored. He showed me all kinds of methods for math. Where I was able to burn through math problems like a hot knife through butter. I went into my ninth grade year at 14 it was told to go the board to do math problems to see where we were at mentally. I tore through them using this type of problem-solving. My teacher then refused to accept any answers on my page or on the blackboard because he couldn’t fact check me and show me where I made my mistake even though all my answers were correct. I was forced to go back and use basic methods which again are boring I ended up passing and then refusing to take any more math. I’ve completely forgotten how to do all this math now. I still do this in advance, math, but have to do with the old way. And I hate it. This is what should be taught in schools and pushed.

As someone who despises fractions and decimals, this is really helpful ty

That’s the normal way I have been solving it since I learn it

That's the way I used to add or subtract fractions. But the problem comes with 24/48 + 6/36 - 1024/512 and then my trick no longer worked: the boring method of the professor recovered its sense and usefulness.
Anyway, this is not a hate comment: I enjoy your videos

We do the same when it comes to subtracting fractions with a variable.

What in case of 3 or more fractions ? Then taking up LCM is the only way ??

To add or subtract fractions. Yes we find a common denominator…

Also when you multiply denominators the lock isn’t always what you multiply

I learned that alone when i realised that the long way is long and stupid and that there has to be a easier way

How long has it been called "The Butterfly Method?" Is it not still cross multiplying?

Who doesn't know it? Now it's being too much. I don't need primary school teacher

Method? This is just a way to don't understand how things works and doing the same numbers of computation. Very ineffective. Understand LCM and don't play the smart guy
