On a Bravia with VRR and ALLM enabled, on a PS5, the frame generation creates slowdowns, and frame drops.

I'm playing on a VRR OLED, tried all settings, and the performance mode without frame gen looked best to my eyes.

If AMD had a better upscaler and introduced frame gen earlier, I think a lot of the issues with performance modes may have been avoided.

Of course, it would have helped if developers did a bit of work too so that games could hit at least 1080p before being upscaled and adding Frame Gen.

I agree with Oliver. Resolution, balanced and performance is all Console gamers need.
Native 4k 30 Fps locked, 1440p 60fps target and 1080p 60-120fps target

Locked 60 should be the default mode game boots to.

As long as it has minimum input latency delay it’s good

I hope they add FSR 3.1, it looks awful currently

Is this unreal engine 5 ps4 tittle ?? I think is also interesting see how runs on last gen. Is this the only one (and fornite) UE5 ps4 tittle?

They really do need to be careful adding frame gen on lower FPS modes. At least on the PC side there's a latency penalty for turning the feature on even at higher frame rates; it's just usually obfuscated with the lower base latency at 60fps+.

Trying to force 30fps upto 60 has got to feel horrible I bet. Please let this remains a toggle on all platforms and not a default forced setting even once it's matured. Unless they find a way to do it with 0 latency (like some retro game console scalers).

Bit of into you don't know.
Frame generation on the first descendant is locked to 120hz tvs only but on immortals of aveum it's available regardless of TV

having more graphics option in a game is one of the reasons that people play with pc and then you said we should not have that in consoles? that's bullshit

I actually played a bit on PC with this setting on and it was surprisingly fine? Like my GPU is NOT enough for this game, I put textures on medium and everything else on low and got 15-35 FPS in 1080p (and for some reason DLSS didn't help). So I put the framegen on and it looked pretty much fine. I also used Nvidia Reflex, so it was absolutely playable with plausible input lag.

EDIT: FG was FSR 3 at Native resolution

I think enabling FG at sub-60 FPS could work. Could Anti-lag come to consoles? TVs already have Game Modes to reduce latency. Would Anti-lag improve that at all?

Remember when you were all going on about how frame gen might not work on the ps5 pro?

I do.

Can someone explain to me on ps5. Why performance is reading 60hz on my monitor but balanced is reading 120hz? Balanced feels better aswell

frame gen is not working correctly the frame pacing is broken or vrr isn't working.

I’m not a fan of all this stuff. I’m playing TFD on fidelity with Ray Tracing enabled on my Series X. Looks gorgeous and plays absolutely great.
