China ends three days of military drills near Taiwan

Two days after House Speaker Kevin McCarthy met with Taiwan's president in California, China began a barrage of drills showing their military muscle both in the air and on the sea. CBS News senior foreign correspondent Elizabeth Palmer reports from Taipei on the tense weekend. And Timothy Heath, senior international and defense researcher for the RAND Corporation, joined with analysis.

Same ol', same old. China would send missiles past us when I lived in Taiwan in the 90s every time that a Taipei lawmaker mentioned independence. Each time, it would get reported in the US as something scary, but it wasn't actually noticeable in Taiwan.

China didn't flinch they expect to turn back into Taiwan after certain vessels get far enough underway to secure certain points. US will be there to challenge chinese forces but this is far from over I dont think anyone should be breathing freely just yet.

I had a Taiwanese exchange student at my HS 20 plus years ago.. back when I knew nothing about foreign policy, or much about other counties.. she hated being associated with china in any way. She taught us a lot. I hope she’s ok. With joe biden in charge I worry for them all
