Check out our detailed review of the Velux VS Manual Skylight for pitched roofs.

These skylights are a fantastic way to add light to your property without sacrificing valuable wall space. Not only that, they improve airflow and ventilation, which can help minimise condensation and mould. That’s particularly useful in your kitchen, bathroom and laundry areas, although they’re great all over.

This model must be installed on a roof pitch between 15 and 90°. Anything less than that, and you can use the VCM, which is designed for flat roofs. The roof pitch is important because you want enough of a slope to drain water off the skylight and flashing.

To operate the skylight, there’s a simple-to-use winder handle, while a rod keeps everything easy if the skylight is out of reach. We sell both options as part of our add-on accessories range, so be sure to check those out. And don’t worry about bugs – there’s a pre-installed insect screen to keep those annoying mozzies and flies out while allowing fresh air in. As for the opening, it’s roughly 30cm.
