Designer: how much gold do you want?
MGM: Yes!

Art for Art's Sake, indeed. You guys are one of the best studios in existence.

My only complaint about this otherwise beautiful tribute is that for the previous lions, somebody in the marketing/graphic design department simply ripped the lions off of low-res YouTube videos instead of getting HD restorations from recent Warner Archive releases.

Great that they remember their history. Most companies talk about their past products and do not show them (example, when nissan talked about nissan qashqai history, they did not show old generation). Great brand history, MGM!

This should be used for MGM's big 100th Anniversary.

0:33 The new lion and ribbon with the old marquee actually looks really good. You should totally try bringing that back.

There was a point in my childhood, where I deplored MGM for the lion’s roar. When I was a kid, I always had to look away and cover my ears, before watching the Pink Panther or Tom and Jerry. I had countless nightmares, where I would be all alone one night and the lion comes on the screen, engulfing me in the same black limbo they were forever trapped in. I couldn’t even look at a blank TV, because the pitch black reminded me so much of that very limbo.

Growing up, I’ve gotten over my fear by rewatching the MGM/UA logos of my childhood and doing a lot of search about the many lions used. I find all of their logos, over 98 years, to be charming. MGM was where real art was; it was in the name. I just didn’t realize it when I was young.

This new logo is beautiful. Here, we have a company, paying homage to the many years of true dedication put in towards film. If only every company could honor their past, embrace the present, and look toward the future.

This is art. Art, for art’s sake.

I'm going to miss the other lions very much and the people who risked their lives to record his roar, but I always enjoy watching him roar. 🦁🎥💛
