I've noticed lots of confusion on what path someone should take if they are looking to get certified in Microsoft Security. In this video, I'm going to walk you through my recommendation on this.

Thank you. I needed this, I have AZ-900 and SC-900. Next up is the AZ-500. I am between jobs so this is very helpful. I am looking at becoming an Azure Security Engineer for next year. I am also taking the CISSP and CCSP. Great content.

Great roadmap! Thank you for clarifying this. This indeed makes it easy for someone who has no clue where to start. I got your SC200 Course on Udemy and I am loving it so far. Keep up the great work and thanks again!

Thanks! Just bought your SC400 course on Udemy. I did the AZ900 and SC900 2 years ago. Studying for the SC400, will go back to your plan whenever I'm done with it :)

I skipped AZ-500. This order makes complete sense, so I’ll be heading back to it after MD-102.

Love your content, and recommend your classes at least once a week to people that ask me where to start.

I finished MS-102 a couple weeks ago with the help of your course. I have many years experience with microsoft and passed ms-100 in 2020. Thinking about sc-300 as an elective for M365 expert certification. A lot of sc-300 probably already covered in ms-102.I work mostly with M365 but the thought is if i want to take the security route latter i can.

I just took MS-900 and there's a lot of overlap of that with SC-900. Right after I took MS-900, I took practice tests for SC-900 and was already scoring 75% without going though any training on it. If my focus is more on 365 IAM would I be better off going to the SC-300 next rather than the AZ-500 as I don't work in Azure much (I have taken the AZ-900 previously). I mostly manage ID.

Do you have an ETA on when you will do a course for the SC-100? Will be a while before I get there anyways, but thought I should ask :D

I am currently doing your MD-102 course, would you say this cert is sought after? Or is it kinda irrelevant?

Great video overall. I would disagree on the AZ-500 after the 900. The list most people in the field have told me would be SC-900 to SC-300 and then SC-400, SC-200 and finally SC-100. The AZ-500 people in the field I work with say it is if you are doing a Azure path more so then if you are doing a security path. I would say this list is spot on for a 100% Microsoft minded security path though. My Microsoft path for security is SC-900 have, SC-300 is scheduled and then the 400 then 200 and finally 100.

I learned a lot after taking your course on MS-102, I was wondering where we should take another course connected to MS-102

Serious Question:
Will it/Would it/Might it look bad or questionable if I do THE WHOLE superfecta of
AZ900(already have), AZ104(want to do anyways and have courses already) and then AZ500/SC300/400/200/100 with labs and lots of practice BEFORE I ever work as a cloud/azure/security person?

Would that make me look like just a theoretical "Cert taker" who probably doesn't know shit in real life, like so many youtubers warn about?

Or are documented Labs on YT or a Blog and custom practice labs enough to offset this "cert collector" status?

Sorry, got a bit long 😅😂

Thanks, if anyone (and)or John can answer this! 🙏🏻🤘🏻

I've always wanted to go into security, I already have AZ-900, AZ-104, I'm approaching AZ140 for a few days (it's a stepping stone 😊) and then I choose the security path you outlined, i.e. SC-900,

i just recently got a job as a technical support engineer stage 2 for dealing with Microsoft Dynamics 365 . going to be taking a lot of training for it so while i do that i can also study up on this stuff as well. it would be nice if you had course for MB pathway so that way i can better prepare myself for my job

Oh that's just great. I have my Az-900 but I need to renew my CompTIA Security + certificate and SC-200 is listed as a the MS certificate will give me the required CEUs to renew my Sec+. But it's listed as the 6th one to go for? OMFG!!!!🤦‍♂

Hi John,

Is this the recommended path for careers in cybersecurity? I have been taking a course of yours that's listed as a MS Security Administrator and will like to know if you have any recommended course path...or if this video is said path.

Thank you in advance.

Hey John hope you’re doing great! So I just passed the SC-900 cert last week and bought your AZ-500 Udemi course yesterday to prepare for that next cert. Do you think it is necessary to go through the AZ-900 or even 104, or should I be comfortable with going through the AZ-500 training, since I’ve already completed the SC-900? Thanks 🙏

I have MS-900, AZ-900 and SC-900 I would like to continue the security path I was told that it would be more easy to AZ-104 before Az-500?
