I think if other depictions of Mari are Sunny's mind twisting her image in disturbing ways, this is a similar, and kinda even more upsetting case.

Something is the image of Mari's wide open eye staring back at Sunny, shocked, or even hateful for killing her. She would never actually hate her little Brother, but in his mind, that's how it is. Hellmari, I imagine, is the expression Mari had, as she fell, gasping in shock. Maybe even her jaw unhinged, hanging loosely, as he and Basil dragged her body, and her head fell back, or something.

This, I think, is Sunny twisting the image of Mari's head hitting the floor. Picturing his Sister's brains open for all to see what he has done to her, splattered on the floor. Kind of like what he wants for himself, and what he achieves in the bad ending.

Given that this is greyscale Mari, it could be (what is presumed as) her real-ass spirit coming down to help her Brother. She wants him to expand his mind to new possibilities, to get better, to go outside, to grow past the mental twelve years of age he's been stuck at for the past four years.

But this is Sunny we're talking about. To him, she's still dead, be it as a judging eye, a walking corpse, or a severed head.

I think that when Mariy says "Expand your mind" she means "Remember what happened to you" or something like that because it sounds more logical for the plot of the game and the fact that it says the NPC named Mariy

I feel like this could be a metaphor for all of headspace and the Omori/Sunny dichotomy. Creating a world and needing to expand it, time and time again, so much so that it ends up parasiting/consuming you

I believe this is Sunny thinking of Mari's perfectionism as something damaging to her, hence how her head is crushed under her own brain here.

i did find this in my first play through
thought it was way cuter than the constant yume nikki stuff i just got to see in the past rooms

didnt know about the multiple click thing though

I think both of them took “expand your mind” too literally..

this scared me so bad in my first playthrough, it was at 1 am and i was playing it with my bsf (she saved this part for me) and it hasnt gotten out of my head at all yet 😭🙏
